| 发帖时间 - 2004/12/1 7:31:56 | 1.Escape from Officialdom I know many people hate the phenomena of government officials resigning and turning to do business. From the point of view of a common people, I hate it, too. It causes many unfair competitions and serious corruptions in our society. But if you are an insider of officialdom, if your conscience know what you are doing day and night and if you happen to be a negligible person but possess a little sense of righteousness, you may think this is the only way to escape. In deed, I’m not in the rank of “good man”, but I hate to flatter leaders, fiction inexistent achievements, figures and projects to boost the leaders’ promotion. I hate to squander a lot of money on “Achievement Projects”, I can’t bear the bully young leaders who think they can do anything with their power. How much salt they have eaten? Some are extremely crazy. They are thirsty for achievements. they know if they have enough achievements, they may be promoted in 3-4 years. For their promotion, they can do anything, squander money just like tap water. They can not wait for the real achievements coming. It is too long and too hard. The best way is to fiction, for them and for their superiors, too. They flatter their superiors and then, ask their subordinates to flatter them and fiction achievements for them. I know there are only a few young leaders like thhese, but unfortunately, I met several. The competitions are very fiercely at the same level in the officialdom, too. Promotion is the only way to prove the success of a government official, at least many people think so. In order to be promoted earlier, many people have to take much time to find a good way to gain the recognition of their superiors. Sometimes, tricks, rumors are good weapons for them.

| 发帖时间 - 2004/12/1 10:28:37 | I fed up. I wanted to change my life. I opened my mind to several friends and colleagues. Many persuaded me not to be such precipitous. “It is not easy to get your present position (I was a vice director of a government department)”, they said, “don’t be so foolish, something is beyond your control, you just do what your superiors asked for, they will take the responsibility”; “you also have some power, too, you can get something others can’t get, you can live here very easeful and comfortable”, etc. One of my colleagues who were forced to be pre-retired because of his age even said, I would rather be killed than leave here. I hesitate. There were 3 things irritated me very much, which made me make up my mind to leave finally.

| 发帖时间 - 2004/12/7 16:11:43 | 悟已往之不谏,知来者之可追。实迷途其未远,觉今是而昨非。 One was about a greedy (both for money and his political needs), bully young vice mayor. He was just about 30 years old. He climbed this position quite easy at his very young ages that made him feel he was something. He could do anything to flatter his superiors, and to his subordinates, he was just like a slave driver. Unfortunately, I was one of his subordinates and had to report to him about my works. He forced us making up many inexistent figures, projects and achievement for him. But he was quite cunning; he forced or hinted us to do so but he did not take any risk of responsibility. I had quarreled with him for many times and every time he retaliated upon me. I tired of this. How could I associate with such a person? The second was once when I took a taxi, I heard a taxi driver said the society was not fair. I asked why. He said, you see, the more salaries people have, the less work they have to do. The less salaries people have, the more work they have to do. I did not agree with him. He asked me to compare government officials with workers. I had nothing to say. I had to admit he was right to a certain extent. I was sad, that was his impression for our government official. The third thing was I have read the article of “Who Moved My Cheese” by chance. I heard that article for a long time, but I never read it until my young brother gave me one. I was stimulated very much by this article. I hated myself why I hadn’t read it earlier and why I was afraid of changing my life before. If I was real tired of government officialdom, why didn’t leave it earlier? I made up my mind to change my life. What I need was a trigger. The fire was triggered by my young leader.
